Mission Ireland 2008

This past July, a group of 27 people of all different ages, different backgrounds, and different ethnicity came together for three weeks with one common purpose: to tell others how much Jesus loved them. On the streets of Ireland, teenagers presented dramas, sang songs, and witnessed to people how God had completely changed their lives. We saw many lives of all ages touched, encouraged and changed. We saw the hand of God move - not only in keeping away the rain, but also in melting hard hearts with his love. Twenty-seven people left Cork to tell others what they knew: that Jesus Christ loves you and it doesn’t matter what you’ve done, how far you’ve gone or who you are – Jesus can forgive you and change your life! We went with the expectation of seeing God move in people’s hearts & lives, and He not only changed the hearts & lives of people we met and talked with, but he changed us as well.
Over three weeks we saw over 100 decisions for Christ, countless conversations, and thousands of pieces of literature handed out. Mission Ireland may “officially” be over, but the reality is that Mission Ireland can never really be over. There’s always someone somewhere who needs to hear of Jesus. We serve a Great & Mighty God!

Testimony by Cian Carroll

Hi, how’s it going everybody? I’m Cian. I’m 14 and I’ve been living for Christ about 2 years now. Since the start of the Summer I was really looking forward to Mission Ireland, but the week before I started worrying about it. I was thinking to myself “What if I mess up in a drama or giving my testimony?” I really disliked speaking in public. So I began to pray that God would make me comfortable when I was speaking on a mic, or when doing a drama. When we began the week of practice before we left I was beginning to feel more comfortable about doing the dramas but I was still worried about giving my testimony. When we began evangelising in Letterkenny, God really filled me with peace and took away my pride and nervousness. When I look back at it now, it really shows that God had answered my prayers. I always used to worry about what people thought of me, and God showed me during Mission Ireland was to just not care about it. You shouldn’t care what people think - only what God thinks. That was just one of the many things God taught me on Mission Ireland and now I thank God for everything He has done in my life!

Testimony by Patrick Healy

Mission Ireland was a truly amazing experience. Though, at times, it was very difficult, as the enemy sent wave after wave of attacks. But the Lord was faithful, and He carried us right through. Before the trip had begun we prayed for a great unity in the group and the Lord blessed us with his Holy Spirit, and answered our prayer. There was a great love for one another and the devil tried his best to break that, but inevitably failed. It was awesome to look around at the open airs and see teenagers standing for the name of Jesus. When we were discouraged the Lord would lift us up and fill us with courage to go back again!

We stood out on the streets without any shame of the Gospel and a love for the people of those streets that only Jesus can give!! The victory was given to us by the grace of God, seeing over 100 people saved and thousands of people hearing the gospel. The people of Ireland are being won to Jesus and it is such an encouragement to know that this is just a small taste of what is to come! Praise God!
Mission Ireland was a fantastic time and I was blessed to be a part of the team.
